The Sommar Approach
Not like other blood tests
At Sommar we think health data is helpful if it’s understandable, insightful and actionable. Our Pollen Engine takes your test results and calculates your daily forecast for you, with five days warning of high pollen days so you can start your treatments in plenty of time.
At Sommar we only use science-backed tests that are backed by peer reviewed studies, that are the same type the NHS uses. We then incorporate your results into our Pollen Engine to provide you with insights that are easy to understand and actually useful in your everyday life.
Research focused
It may not be the best business aim for a pollen forecasting company, but we’d love to live in world where hay fever doesn’t ruin our summers any more. Pollen forecasting can give you warning and help to manage your symptoms, but it’s not a cure for hay fever.
The only way we’ll be able to beat hay fever permanently is by funding and supporting more scientific research. At Sommar we use the data we generate from our model to collaborate with scientists and push forward the frontiers of allergy research.

The blood tests we conduct are proven to be effective at predicting sensitivities to the allergens which we tests for. The technology around pollen forecasting is constantly improving, driven in part by the data collected from the Sommar platform. We believe that personalised scores are more helpful and easier to understand than general forecasts.

The membership includes an allergy blood test as well as access to the Sommar app. The app provides daily forecasts, general allergy advice and recommendations as well as a daily Journal to track your symptoms.

It is not possible to buy the tests individually without also being a member of the Sommar platform. If you do decide to leave we provide a copy of your blood test results to download at any time in the app.

If our blood test finds that you don’t have allergies then we will refund the cost of your annual or monthly membership, as it wouldn’t be helpful for you. We will not refund the cost of the blood test.
